Shear Standards of Grooming Policies & Procedures

I agree to abide by the policies and procedures of Shear Standards, LLC. Policies may be updated and changed at any time to adapt to current needs.

Vaccinations

Prior to booking any appointment we require owners to have their shots sent to us. This ensures that all information is accurate and up-to-date, and helps to expedite the booking process. If you are a current client and shots are not updated, it is the owner’s responsibility to ensure your records are provided. We cannot accept any pet without current records on the premises under any condition.

Leash Requirement

All pets are required to enter and exit the facility on a leash. If you do not bring a leash, you are able to borrow one to transfer your dog from your vehicle to the building and back. Please return the leash when done. We will not accept your pet if it is not on a leash or in a carrier. Repeat violations will result in a $5 fee and a leash provided to you for future appointments.

Schedule Requirement

We require all haircut dogs to maintain a regular grooming schedule of no more than 12 weeks. This allows our groomers to establish a positive working relationship with your pets and helps us to monitor any changes in health or coat condition. Finding a good routine and consistent schedule can keep the coat free from matting. This policy helps us ensure our quality and your overall experience.

Coat Condition

If a pet's coat is matted, there is an increased risk for clipper burn or cuts to occur. This is due to the difficulty of attempting to get a sharp clipper blade between the skin and the matts. The groomer will not be held responsible for such occurrences, and they will take all necessary precautions to prevent them. I understand that the health and safety of the animals comes first, and agree that shaving may be necessary if the mats cannot safely be brushed out. Matted pets take additional time to groom so there will be an additional fee added onto the regular grooming price.

Health

Grooming can be stressful to some pets. Informing the groomer of any health conditions, stress related issues, concerns, past experiences and bite history prior to grooming is important to the safety and well being of the groomer and pet.

Fleas/Ticks

You acknowledge we do not knowingly accept dogs with an active flea infestation. Shear Standards, LLC does require all animals to be treated/on preventative prior to their scheduled appointment. Flea baths only kill fleas on the animal at time of the bath, it is NOT a preventative, nor do protect against reinfestation. If your dog is found to have fleas/ticks they will be given a flea bath. Excessive fleas do require extra time and will be charged accordingly.

Anal Glands

We do NOT offer anal gland expression, as this should be performed by a licensed veterinarian.

Sedated Dogs and Muzzles

We will NOT groom sedated dogs. If your dog is currently sedated, you will need to reschedule your appointment. We believe in building a bond and mutual trust with your animal(s), and do not muzzle unless it is necessary. Muzzling does not harm your pet and protects both the animal and the groomer.  If the groomer feels there is danger to themselves or the animal, the groomer has the right to stop services at any time and a fee will be collected for the services performed/ time spent up to that point.

Refusal of Services

Shear Standards, LLC reserves the right to refuse service to any pet or client for any reason. If a grooming is stopped early, you will be charged for what was done up to that point or time spent.

CANCELLATIONS

Salon Closure

Though rare, events happen that are out of our control, (construction, loss of power, illness etc.) and we may be required to be closed with little notice. We make every effort to keep our clients informed, and will contact you immediately to reschedule your appointment. In the event of bad weather and the salon must close for the safety of its employees and clients you will be notified, we appreciate your understanding when this happens. Your appointment will be postponed and we will call you to reschedule as soon as possible. If you are unsure, please call us to confirm.

Client Cancellations

Cancellation and rescheduling of an appointment, by the client, requires 48 hrs notice to waive any fees. In the event of inclement weather, a family emergency or any other uncontrollable circumstance, the groomer has the discretion to waive any fees. Late cancellations can incur a fee from $20 up to the full cost of the missed appointment cost due to the loss of revenue.

No-Shows

It is considered a "no-show" when the client is not available at the scheduled appointment time and does not contact the groomer to cancel or reschedule. We understand that emergencies come up, and accommodations can be made if you communicate this with the groomer.

  • We reserve the right to charge at least 50% and up to 100% of the missed appointment cost due to the loss of revenue. Please make every effort to call and cancel or reschedule when possible to avoid such situations. (If you miss two appointments with a no-call, no-show, you will be required to pre-pay for any future appointments. The pre-pay is non-refundable and is non-transferable.)  Repeat offenders may be denied future services at Shear Standards, LLC.
